5000-year-old burial mound destroyed in Azerbaijan
A 5000-year-old burial mound in Hindarkh village of Azerbaijan’s Agjabadi region has been destroyed by local residents, APA reported. The graves, ancient things and other valuable historical items were destroyed during the digging in the burial mound by an excavator.
Doctor of history, archeologist Khagani Almammadov, who is doing archeological studies in the territory, told APA that the excavators fully destroyed the burial mound.
“These monuments date back to the Bronze Age. Each of them is 5000 years old. There are no historical monuments like this in the whole Caucasus. I was shocked when I saw what happened. There are no words to describe this,” he said.
Almammadov said the relevant bodies would be informed about it.
