Armenian-Georgian company to regulate road service
“Upper-Lars check point will reopen and the vehicles will be allowed to pass it, as soon as weather gets warm,” Manuk Vardanyan, Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication, said in a briefing after Government session. The Minister has said the road has some tricky parts, which makes driving risky.
Minister has said about 200 trucks are stuck in the border, 85 out of which are waiting just in the checking order, while the rest is stuck in Pyatigorsk and Rostov road.
M. Vardanyan said an agreement has been adopted with the Georgian side to form an Armenian-Georgian joint company to better organize the service in the road.
According to the minister the drivers were informed beforehand that since the middles of November the check point would not be functioning. The information, according to M. Vardanyan, is posted in the ministry’s official website.
