Neymar named Brazilian player of the year
Santos striker Neymar was crowned Brazil's player of the year yesterday after a fine season in the Campeonato, scoring 13 goals as his side struggled to a tenth-placed finish, AFP reported.
Neymar did not attend last night's ceremony in Sao Paulo as he was on his way to Tokyo to compete in the FIFA Club World Championship.
The 19-year-old, who also won the best striker's award, has been a target for a number of top European clubs but extended his contract with the Brazilian side last month to 2014.
