G. Minasyan: Armenia, Azerbaijan must be viewed on different platforms
“In fact, the behavior displayed by the international community is alarming. It’s unacceptable when Armenia and Azerbaijan are viewed on the same platform in the statement,” MP Gagik Minasyan told Panorama.am.
The joint statement by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs noted the May 2011 statement of their Presidents at Deauville, which urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to finalize the Basic Principles for the Peaceful Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict, the Heads of Delegation of the Minsk Group Co-Chair Countries expressed regret that the parties have been unable to take this decisive step.
The MP said Armenia is committed to the Deauville statement noting that unlike Azerbaijan, Armenia has approved the basic principles.
“Azerbaijan surprisingly appeared with a new package of 10 issues in Kazan failing all the hopes for the reconciliation over the basic principles,” said G. Minasyan.
Gagik Minasyan reminded that the Deauville statement was urging the parties to prepare their peoples to peace, while Azerbaijan holds on militaristic moods in the country.
“The things should be called as they are, otherwise conflict resolution is difficult to imagine,” he said.
