Azerbaijan: Carbon monoxide poisoning leaves one officer dead
One Azerbaijani army officer has died and two are in hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning.
The incident occurred at an apartment rented by the officers in Baku's Yasamal District.
Abulfat Mammadov died on the spot, while Rafig Gasimov and Elmaddin Mamiyev were taken to hospital, according to News.Az.
Defense Ministry spokesman Teymur Abdullayev confirmed the report to the news agency.
The fatalities and death rate in the Azerbaijani army have increased abruptly this year. Azerbaijan has registered already 93 military deaths this year, of which 77 are non-combat deaths. 16 Azerbaijani soldiers have been killed by their co-servicemen, 13 have died as a result of accidents, 14 have died in road accidents, 12 have died of diseases, 12 have committed suicide. 9 Azerbaijani servicemen have died under unknown circumstances. 93 Azerbaijani soldiers have been injured this year.
