Congressmen urge Aliyev to release political prisoners
Congressmen have urged Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to release political prisoners, “Turan” news agency reported.
According to the source Congress human rights commission co-chairs Tom Lantos and James McGovern have sent a letter to Azerbaijan’s President calling him on to release all the political prisoners, particularly Farhad and Rafik Aliyevs.
“We’re deeply alarmed Azerbaijan is unable to guarantee human rights protection and to release political prisoners.”
The Congressmen call on Azerbaijan to remain committed to the international obligations and to the decisions of European Court on human rights.
