Azerbaijani lobby in U.S. fights non-existent formulations
Aze.az has spread misinformation, saying that “despite the incredible efforts of the Armenian Diaspora and members of the support group for Armenia in the U.S. Congress, and thanks to well coordinated countermeasures of the Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas, the words “Armenians,” “genocide” and “two million people killed in the Ottoman Empire” were removed from draft Resolution 306.
The point is that Resolution 306 passed by the United States House of Representatives on December 13, which called on Turkey to end all forms of religious discrimination, end restrictions on the training, appointment and ordination of Christian clerics, return all Christian Churches and properties to their rightful owners and fully respect the right of Christians to express their religious beliefs, without hindrance, did not contain the above mentioned words. Either the Azerbaijani lobbyists in U.S. mislead official Baku, representing fight against non-existent formulations as a “diplomatic victory” or Azerbaijani media spread obvious misinformation intended for their compatriots.
In this context, we will remind a recent statement by Elshad Miralem, deputy chief of information department of State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad, who said that formerly for Azerbaijan’s PR abroad more attention was paid to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the events of January 20, Khojaly, and other topics. However, subsequently the quality and tactics of spreading information were changed. According to him, this was because they did not get the expected effect from informative measures.
“Such measures tire the Western community, and sometimes even give the opposite effect,” said Miralem.
