Sochi joint statement: Sides committed to continue negotiations, to intensify them
Sochi meeting among Presidents Serzh Sargsyan, Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev has finished. Panorama.am reporter tells a joint statement has been released which says the sides have expressed commitment to continue negotiations and to intensify them.
Kremlin official website posted the statement which particularly reads:
“Presidents of three countries have underlined that since the adoption of Moscow declaration on November 2, 2008, great stuff has been conducted in the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The presidents have declared that in the aftermath of intensive negotiations a breakthrough has been registered in agreement of Basic principles.
Signifying Peace treaty development President of the Republic of Armenia and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan have expressed commitment to accelerate the agreement of Basic principles considering the work done so far.
The two presidents have highly hailed efforts of Russian Federation and OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states and have expressed hope that Russia, USA and France will continue to play intensive roles in that status until final peace and stability are established in the region.
In development of Sochi joint declaration adopted on March 5, 2011, presidents of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation approved co-chairs’ report on launching investigation mechanisms in the contact line, which they have co-developed with the personal representative of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and recommended to continue that work.
Presidents have re-confirmed that in the context of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict development of humanitarian relations are significant to strengthen confidence. In this respect presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have expressed commitment to contribute to the dialogue among intellectuals, scientific and social circles.”
