Starting from today, Orange shops will make available to customers not only the best anti-virus programs from Kaspersky, but also another electronic package from this global leader of safe internet. The Kaspersky Internet Security program will allow parents to maximally protect their children from irrelevant and dangerous content. Orange began collaborating with Kaspersky Laboratory as early as September 2011, when all customers got the possibility to try, free of charge, the Kaspersky anti-virus program. Now the company is taking another step towards safe internet..
Bruno Duthoit, Orange Armenia CEO, said: «As part of our collaboration with Kaspersky Laboratory, the global leader in safe internet, our 70,000 internet customers can supervise the online activities of their children. However, offering a software solution is not enough in itself to ensure the complete online protection of our customers. In Armenia we provide internet services and our position of leader in mobile internet gives us the resposibility of supporting, educating and directing customers in the safe usage of the internet. In the scope of our corporate social responsibility we have joined this initiative with great pleasure, which aims at giving the keys of safe use of the internet.»
On 19 January 2012, through the initiative of the European Union, 25 companies from across the information and communications technology sector signed a declaration on «Safer Internet for Children» through which they have experssed their dedication to providing a safe online environment, especially for children. Along with France Telecom Orange, the declaration is signed by such companies as Google, Facebook, Deutsche Telekom, RIM, Nokia, Telecom Italia, Vodafone and others.
Narine Khachatryan, Deputy Director of Media Education center, said: «The rules of virtual network and real life are quite similar and if we follow them, the use of the internet will become more efficient. While giving infinite and unprecedented opportunities, the internet still contains many dangers, especially for children. Moreover, children and adolescents spend a lot of their time in the virtual space, where there along with a lot of useful material there is also dangerous content»
All those concerned for the nature and safety of the content their children consume on the internet can visit the website www.safe.am where all necessary information and advices about safe internet surfing can be found in the Armenian language. A collection of more than 10,000 educational sites and 3000 useful references has been created.
The «Safe Internet» program is dedicated to the world day of safe internet which has been celebrated since 2004 every year on the second day of the second week of the second month of the year. The European INSAFE initiative, which is spreading wider each year, is gathering people to comabt illegal, dangerous and improper online content.
