MP says advancement impossible without intensified involvement of Artsakh
“After Kazan tripartite meeting in 2011 some uncertain elements could be noticed in the NK negotiating process, but the situation has been clarified in Sochi during a similar format meeting. In the joint statement, adopted in the aftermath of the presidents’ meeting, the sides have expressed their commitment to continue the negotiations and to intensify them having signified the stuff implemented so far,” Karine Atchemyan, member of RPA faction, told Panorama.am remarking on recent developments over the NK issue.
“Sochi statement says the parties are committed to accelerate acquisition of agreements of Basic principles, which means that the mediators have made Azerbaijan to understand that unless the document of Basic principles is adopted, Peace treaty cannot be drafted. To hide its destructive steps, Azerbaijan makes not only the Armenian side but the mediators also target of condemnation. Moreover, after famous political processes in France’s Parliament and Senate, Azerbaijan has made dissident statements to withdraw France from co-chairing mission. While Sochi statement underlines the presidents highly assess the mediators activities and that they are hopeful they will continue their mission until peace and stability are established in the region,” K. Atchemyan said.
Mrs. Atchemyan has noted that Sochi statement adopted in 2011 says the sides should endeavor to resolve all the disputable issues through peace and to hold investigation over the incidents happening on the line of contact.
“A couple of month later Azerbaijan created obstacles to implement the points imposed in that statement, hence another statement made this year has reminded them about the need to implement it.
It’s very important the sides have re-confirmed their commitment to contribute to the dialogue among intellectuals, scientists and civil society.”
The MP has stated Azerbaijan must understand a pivotal step to resolve the conflict is to withdraw from maximalist disposition and to resume direct negotiations with the authorities of Artsakh.
“It’s obvious, advancement and breakthrough cannot be materialized without intensified involvement of Artsakh in the process,” concluded the MP.
