Statue dismantled in Turkey having resemblance with Armenia’s national emblem
Statues of eagle and lion, erected in the yard of “Dumlupnar” University of Qyutahia province, Western Turkey, have been dismantled as the scientific council of the university thought the statues resembled to the national emblem of Armenia.
“The statues of eagle and lion erected in our yard were not as much wonderful. Besides, we were told that they resembled to the eagle and lion depicted on the national emblem of Armenia. Hence we decided to dismantle them,” “CnnTurk” news agency quotes President of the University Ahmet Qaraaslan as saying.
The author of the statues, sculptor Atanas Qarachoban was sad with the incident as nobody has consulted with him.
“I wish they have first asked me. The statue I created had nothing in common with any national emblem,” he said.
