Leyla Yunus: 60 political prisoners counted in Azerbaijan
Director of Azerbaijan’s Institute of Peace and Democracy, human rights defender Leyla Yunus has declared there are 60 political prisoners in Azerbaijan. “Bizim yol” paper quotes Leyla Yunus as saying in a joint statement of Azerbaijan’s renowned social-political activists, heads of parties and journalists.
“In a not-free country like Azerbaijan it’s difficult to figure out how many political prisoners there are. We can but demand to release all the political prisoners. To improve the situation in Azerbaijan all the political forces should join their efforts. We have counted 60 political prisoners whose guilt is not yet proven,” the statement reads.
