Der Spiegel:Ccountry jailing opposition activities, whirling in corruption to host Eurovision 2012
German “Der Spiegel” has published a comprehensive story by Stefan Niggemeier on “Eurovision 2012” international song contest to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in May, Azerbaijani “Azadlig” writes.
The human rights defenders and civil society activists focus on the situation of human rights. It’s said that the organizers of the contest have found themselves in an insoluble situation prior to this non-political event.
“Human rights are on paper in Azerbaijan. The West and human rights organizations deeply condemn Azerbaijan’s government for the absurd situation of human rights in the country. This year a country jailing opposition activities, whirling in corruption will host Eurovision 2012,” Der Spiegel story reads.
