Government refuses initiative to hold 100% proportional elections
Armenian Government has refused MPs Styopa Safaryan’s, Artsvik Minasyan’s, Vahan Hovhannisyan’s and Armen Martirosyan’s initiative to hold the forthcoming parliamentary elections in 100% proportional elections system.
Deputy Minister of Justice Grigor Muradyan has said there are a number of obstacles to hold the elections in 100% proportional election system.
“To define procedure for National Assembly formation some circumstances should be taken in account,” Deputy Minister of Justice said.
According to him election system in different countries is conditioned by different factors. They differ in monarchical and republican countries, federal and unitary states, one-chamber and two-chamber parliaments, etc.
