Armenian journalist to sue against Turkey in ECHR
Turkish journalist of Armenian descent Cevat Sinet, who lives in Turkish Batman Province is intended to sue against Turkey in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for abusing rights of disabled citizens, for racist and religious discrimination, Turkish “Haber3” reported.
On September 15, 2010, Sinet applied to Batman’s administration for a disability card, but he was denied because of his Christian identity.
“You are Armenian, it is written ‘Christian’ on your identity card. We cannot give you a disability card,” the Batman Social Service’s officer told and subsequently insulted him.
“I applied to ECHR for insulting me, for mocking my religion, and for debasing me,” the Armenian journalist stated.
