Fenerbahce president: If they can prove these allegations, I will jump off a bridge
Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim has threatened to throw himself from a bridge, should the prosecution be able to prove match-fixing allegations against him, Goal.com reported.
Yildirim is currently on trial for a string of allegations pertaining to his club's sensational title run last season, which saw them finish first ahead of Trabzonspor.
However, the 59-year-old has always remained outspoken of his innocence, and has once again hit out at the charges.
"I am not charged with match-fixing, I am charged with getting economic income in an unfair way. That is not match-fixing," he told reporters outside court. "This case is not about match-fixing. If it was, they would investigate other people too. They say I paid €76,000 to [Istanbul BB player Ibrahim] Akin. Where is that money? In which account is it? If they can prove I paid him, I will jump off the bridge! They say match-fixing. What match-fixing? The country is getting out of hand, but all they talk about is match-fixing!"
