Haykakan Zhamanak: Bread prices to rise
The increase in the flour prices in Armenia is due to a 25 percent increase in grain prices in the international market, spokesperson of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia Gayane Sahakyan told Haykakan Zhamanak. On average, flour prices have climbed 9 percent in Armenia, according to the commission. That is why bread prices rose in Gyumri, in particular.
The commission is hopeful that an increase in bread prices can be prevented at the expense of reserves.
“An increase in flour prices will lead to an increase in bread prices. It only remains to wait until it happens,” writes the newspaper.
