Bianet: To condemn crime through fascism – paradox
Columnist of Turkish Bianet news site Hussein Shengyul has referred to a rally held on February 26 in Taqsim Square of Istanbul dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Khojaly events.
“Rally held in Taqsim was a paradox. I am not sure if there is another example of that kind elsewhere, but it’s a paradox to condemn crime against humanity claiming racist slogans, fascism remarks and however, the first example has been recorded in our country,” Shengyul said.
The columnist underlined that Khojaly was just a pretext for the rally. Being supported by the state xenophobia and nationalism raved in Taqsim. Shengyul describes slogans used during the rally as manifestation of fascism.
“Crimes against humanity cannot be punished through fascism, as it is crime itself,” Hussein Shengyul said.
