Wine prices to rise this year – wine maker
Wine prices will rise in Armenia this year, Chairman of Union of Winemakers of Armenia Avag Harutyunyan told a news conference.
Grape prices will hit AMD 200 per kg this year, said the wine maker, quoting market research results. Grape harvest is forecast to grow by 15-20,000 tons this year, according to the research.
“Wine cost price will rise. There is a need for high quality wine in the market, and naturally all this will result in price increase,” said he.
Asked why the Armenian wine is not competitive in foreign markets, the wine maker said that 95 percent of the grapes purchased are used to make brandy, and too little is left to wine makers.
