 Businesswoman Irina Ziroyan murdered on Thursday in Moscow was the widow of one of leaders of famous Orekhovaya criminal group, Gevorg Ziroyan, who was killed in 2003.

Irina Ziroyan together with her bodyguard arrived to have lunch at the Tanuki restaurant; RIA Novosti quoted a police source as saying. As she left and was getting into her car, two unidentified people opened fire at her and her bodyguard. Ziroyan was soon dead, her bodyguard died later in hospital.

Police confirm that the attack had all the hallmarks of a contract killing.
“The killing has the characteristics of a contract killing – the killer fired a control shot into the victim’s head, after which he escaped in a car, the make of which is being established now,” RIA Novosti quoted a police source as saying.

When Gevorg Ziroyan was killed in 2003 Irina inherited shares in various enterprises. However, according to the source, his former associates considered her inheritance the organization’s rightful property. Last year, one of her stores was raided, in which gunmen shot and killed Ziroyan’s son.
