 “President’s statements are evident that our country is committed to establish stable and long-term peace in the regions. In fact, Armenia’s President called the things by their names. Today, Azerbaijan is the main factor destabilizing the situation in the region,” military expert Davit Jamalyan told Panorama.am remarking on statements President made in Brussels.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan is quoted as saying in a briefing after his meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen that Azerbaijan is critically against any confidence building proposal, either contributing to the regional cooperation or easing of strained situation in the contact line. President emphased that regretfully, Azerbaijan is against withdrawal of snipers from the contact line, is against investigation of incidents, moreover, threats imposing war haven’t suspended even a second.

D. Jamalyan said Armenian side should display this fact to different international organizations which are interested in stability in our region aimed at intensifying their efforts in maintenance of ceasefire regime.

“Armenian side is interested in loosening tensions on the front line, but at the same time they cannot remain as a passive observer when the lives of Armenian soldiers and civilians are in danger. Emphasizing official Baku’s destructive behavior, the realization of our right of security become vivid and perceptible for the European organizations. The Armenian side takes the role of advocate of peace at the same time being capable to enforce peace,” said the expert.
