A 12-year-old boy was killed in Gaza as a result of Israeli air strikes
The BBC reports that Israeli air strikes have killed four Palestinian militants in Gaza, reports say, as cross-border violence continues for a fourth day. |
Two were killed by strikes in Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip.
According to the Guardian a 12-year-old boy was killed in Gaza amid a spiraling round of militant rocket attacks and Israeli air strikes over the weekend that left at least 20 Palestinians dead and four people in Israel injured.
Dozens of Palestinians were wounded, according to medical services in Gaza.
The dead child was named as Ayoub Useila, who was killed in Jabalia refugee camp in an air strike that also injured his seven-year-old cousin.
Gaza's Hamas leadership, whose own cadres have kept out of the fighting, said on Sunday that neighbouring Egypt was working to stop the violence and consulting with other militants.
A Palestinian official close to the mediation told Reuters that Israel had agreed to a midnight ceasefire.
