Azerbaijan’s provocation – answer to West
On March 19 ceasefire regime was violated by the rival that killed an Armenian soldier in border post located in Tavush region. Later it was confirmed that the killed serviceman was commander major Artak Shahbazyan. Panorama.am talked to military experts and officials regarding the prevention of the casualties.
Armen Mkhitaryan, chairman of union of veterans of war in Afghanistan said Azerbaijan was going too far.
“It’s almost impossible, how long can it be ignored, doesn’t the international community see the defiant behavior of that country? How many casualties should be recorded in order the international community understands Azerbaijan must be seriously punished. Surely, we are able to punish Azerbaijan ourselves, but their steps simply abort chances to peacefully resolve NK conflict. Azerbaijan won’t be able to “digest” it and if international community doesn’t treat the matter adequately, the outcomes will be much more painful,” A. Mkhitaryan said.
Military expert Samvel Petrosyan underlined that a couple of days ago German Foreign Minister and US State Department have highlighted NK conflict, saying it must be resolved through peaceful negotiations, but Azerbaijan failed to make appropriate conclusions.
“Frequency of occurrence of such incidents are directly connected with Azerbaijan withdrawing from the mechanisms to investigate casualties on the contact line. Azerbaijan is more committed to strain the situation, thus withdraws from the agreements. Azerbaijan underlines the war isn’t over and that the conflict will be resolved through military operations.”
Expert Artur Petrosyan has also remarked on the issue saying Azerbaijan is as if fishing in troubled waters.
