U.S. Ambassador: Optimistic with elections in Armenia
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern shared his impressions regarding the pre-elections processes progressing in Armenia with Panorama.am reporter.
“Well, we’re very interested, we’re working with the government, with all the parties and civil society and press to make these elections free and fair,” U.S. Ambassador said emphasizing that he’s an optimist.
“I’m an optimist, I’m hopeful the things will go well. We’re hopeful that all the parties will have access to the press in the pre-election period, and that the election law will be fully implemented both in the pre-election period, as well as on election day. We’re trying to be helpful anyway we can,” U.S. Ambassador said.
Referring to post election period, the diplomat has emphasized he’s optimistic.
“The election law is pretty good. I’m looking for and hoping that it will be fully implemented by authorities and opposition parties. We’ll just not worry about what’s going to happen in the future,” John Heffern said.
