Double citizen included in Orinats Yerkir candidate list
Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun had earlier reported that an unknown candidate, Nelson Zuroyan, is in fifth place on Orinats Yerkir Party candidate list. Zuroyan was born in Lori. He left for France for study purposes, wrote the newspaper.
“Orinats Yerkir Party confirmed that the fortune had smiled on Zuroyan and he managed to become a citizen of France. The party also said that Zuroyan is a double citizen: he has French and Armenian citizenship. We will try to find out soon when Zuroyan became a citizen of Armenia. We will remind that the electoral law of the Republic of Armenia bans foreign nationals from running in the elections in Armenia. This provision also extends to double citizens.
Orinats Yerkir did not refute the report, and silence is a sign of agreement. It only remains to ask CEC for an explanation when the candidates have been registered,” writes the daily.
