Armenian journalist sues Turkey at ECtHR
Turkish citizen of Armenian descent, journalist Cevat Sinet sues Turkey at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) for racial and religious discrimination.
“I had lost my disability certificate. I appealed to Batman Province social services office for getting a new certificate. I was insulted and humiliated there for being a Christian and disabled. I was aggrieved. I appealed to Batman Court but the Court refused to hold accountable the social worker for racial discrimination,” Turkish website Sondakika quoted the Armenian journalist as saying.
Cevat Sinet regretted to say that Turkish judicial system is unfair. Highlighting the humiliating attitude towards Armenians living in Turkey the journalist went on to say, “Has any nation or society benefited from racism? They never have. Neither will they benefit. We want to live like common people. Now we feel humiliated, we feel like aliens.”
