Italian tourists interested in Armenian people’s spiritual heritage
Yerevan is hosting a forum titled “Armenia-Italy: Possibilities for Tourism Development.”
The forum, held as part of the project “From St. Lazarus to Ararat” between Armenia and Italy’s Veneto Region, aims to increase the mutual tourist flows between Armenia and Italy.
Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan addressed the opening session of the forum. The Deputy Minister noted that they face the task of strengthening tourism ties between the two countries as well as making Armenia recognizable in the international market, in particular in Italy.
Executive Director of National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia Arman Khachaturyan dwelt on prospective ways of expansion of Armenian-Italian cooperation in the field of tourism. Armenian-Italian relations have always been warm, the official said, and it is also reflected in tourism.
According to him, the number of Italian tourists visiting Armenia has increased by around 15-20 percent in recent years. Italian tourists are especially interested in Armenia’s spiritual heritage, NCFA’s Executive Director stressed.
