Haykakan Zhamanak: Armenian Ambassador gave brandy to Baroness as a gift
Armenian Ambassador to UK Karine Kazinian has met with head of PACE observer mission in Armenia, Baroness Emma Nicholson lately and on leaving the meeting, left a box with a bottle of brandy in her office, Haykakan Zhamanak reports, quoting the Baroness.
The Baroness told the paper she had given the brandy to a charity organization, because law bans her from accepting any gifts.
Asked whether PACE can control the situation and prevent corruption in the observer mission, because scores of observers got valuable gifts in Armenia in 2008, Baroness Nicholson said, “That’s a very serious problem. We are in the year 2012 and not 2008.”
