Gallup: RPA and Prosperous Armenia deserve great support of voters
Parliamentary Elections in Armenia pre-election poll is commissioned by ArmNews TV and implemented by Armenian Sociological Association and Baltic Surveys / The Gallup Organization from April 2012 to February 2013. The main goals of the project are to study Armenian public opinion about the social and political issues; to find out the electoral preferences prior to the Parliamentary elections 2012 and Presidential elections 2013; to examine the sources of information about the political issues.
Rasa Alisauskiene, member of Board of Directors at The Gallup Organization, said in news conference that the first public opinion poll was carried out on April 4-10. The eligibility criteria was based on age (18 years and older). A sample of 1,018 Armenian residents were interviewed face-to-face in their homes. The response rate was 66 percent, the margin of error for the survey does not exceed plus or minus 3.1 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.
According to R. Alisauskiene Armenian voters are interested in the forthcoming elections. Answering to a question “do you plan to vote in the parliamentary elections?”, 58% of the respondents says “definitely yes,” 30% - “probably yes”, while 24% “have not decided yet.”
According to the poll results a month before the elections two parties deserve great support – 34% of the respondents (or 38% of likely to vote respondents) will vote for the Armenian Republican Party and 28% (or 30%) will vote for Prosperous Armenia Party.
According to the poll results three parties that deserve relatively little support of the voters, will take their seats in the National Assembly. They are HAK, Rule of Law and ARF. Rasa Alisauskiene noted that the results for Heritage Party are intriguing and the election campaign will show if they will manage to attract “uncertain” likely voters.
