Many samples in Geological Museum of Kapan saved when Serzh Sargsyan was PM
President Serzh Sargsyan visited today, during his working visit to Syunik region, the reconstructed Geological Museum of Kapan where he learnt about the conditions of two reconstructed departments.
100 million AMD was provided for the reconstruction works of the Kapan Geological museum in 2011. With the mentioned sum of money the roofs of 2 departments have been completely repaired, as well as the floors, the bathrooms, doors and windows, heating system. The internal and external conditions have been improved too.
The works have been finished at the end of 2012; the reconstruction of the museum is a solution for the reservation of the values of the museum, security, organizing exhibition of the museum stuff as well as developing tourism in Kapan.
As Grisha Smbatyan, the director of the museum, told the journalists this geological office was situated in the basement of a dwelling house, however, as a Prime Minister, Serzh Sargsyan provided the museum a new territory, “Many samples have been saved due to that, and now there are all possibilities for open exhibitions,” museum’s director mentioned.
According to him the most ancient samples are the Stone Age tools from 7th century BC found in Shikahogh.
