Swiss Armenians demand to punish Turkish minister for denying Armenian genocide
Swiss-Armenian parliamentary friendship group addressed Switzerland’s Court of Appeal filing a complaint against the General Prosecutor’s office which refused to launch a criminal case against Turkey’s EU Affairs Minister Egemen Bagis.
Turkish “Timeturk” news site underlines that Secretary General of the parliamentary friendship group Sarkis Shahinian stressed that the Turkish minister denied Armenian Genocide at the end of the concert which means diplomatic immunity cannot be a warrant for him.
Earlier, the Turkish minister claimed at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2012 “there was no Armenian Genocide”. Investigation against Bagis was initiated by the Swiss Criminal Code referring to racist statements. Later, however, the case was suspended.
