Abramovich to offer Di Matteo £750,000 bonus for Champions League triumph
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has been offered a £750,000 bonus for winning the Champions League by Roman Abramovich, Goal.com reported, citing The Times.
The Russian owner has reportedly been impressed with the manner in which the 41-year-old has transformed the Blues' campaign and is set to present the Italian with the bonuses that would have been given to his predecessor Andre Villas-Boas.
However, Abramovich’s offer to Di Matteo which is not a legal requirement, and is an indication the Italian has emerged as a serious candidate to replace Villas-Boas on a full-time basis.
Since taking charge of team affairs last month the former Blues midfielder have won 10 out of their 14 matches, including last week’s win over Barcelona which has given them a crucial advantage in their Champions semi-final clash with resumes on Tuesday.
