Moscow opposes replacement of Armenia’s Prosecutor General, paper says
Russia’s Prosecutor General Yuri Chayka has come to Armenia with an Order of Honor for Armenia’s Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan, Zhoghovurd says. The order is bestowed by decree of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev dated April 14, 2012.
Chayka’s visit and the Order of Honor have political implications, the paper says. Rumors have been circulating recently that Orinats Yerkir Party leader, National Security Council Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan will be selected as Prosecutor General after the elections. Now Moscow shows that Hovsepyan should not be replaced by a “pro-European figure.”
