Armenian Church turned into garbage place in Turkey
An ancient Armenian Church coming from 11th century, located in the Turkish province of Batman is being used as a garbage place, Ermenihaber.am news site report says. The columns and illustrated stones are used as staircases in either homes or in cattle sheds.
“The administration of the province will hold a survey to reveal all the ancient monuments in Batman. Here, the religion is not important, as the protection of inherited monuments is more important,” Abduselam Ulucam archeological expert said.
“It’s shameful that the church appeared in such a dramatic condition. Making it a garbage place, we display our attitude towards history,” local resident Ali Ucar said.
