Beckham tops 100 richest sportsmen list
Britain and Ireland’s 100 richest sportsmen increased their fortunes a collective 8.9 percent in the past 12 months to 3 billion pounds ($4.9 billion), the Sunday Times said.
David Beckham, former captain of England’s national soccer team, advanced to the top of the newspaper’s annual Sports Rich List from No. 2 last year after he boosted his wealth by 25 million pounds, or 19 percent.
People involved in soccer accounted for 48 of the top 100, with a combined wealth of 1.22 billion pounds, while golf and motor sports accounted for 12 each, the Sunday Times reported. There were no women on the list, the top 10 of whom are listed below:
