Messi and friends to play charitable match
On the 21st of June, Leo Messi will play a friendly match in Bogotà. Under the banner ‘Messi and his friends’, the Barça forward will be joined by his teammates Javier Mascherano, Dani Alves, and Alexis Sánchez, while Atletico Madrid’s Falcao García will lead the rival group, ‘the rest of the world,’ Totalbarca.com reported.
The event and many of the details were presented by Messi’s agent, Guillermo Marín, who made public the list of 22 players who have confirmed their attendance at the charity match which will benefit vulnerable children in Colombia.
“Lionel is very happy to come to Colombia, not only to play the friendly, but also for what it means to help some of the foundations with programs for helpless children in this country,” said Marín at a press conference.
It is also reported that the coaches for the two sides will be Brazilian coach Dunga, with the coach for the other side to either be Atletico Madrid’s current manager, Diego Simeone, or Athletic Bilbao’s Marcelo Bielsa.
The other players involved will be: Diego Forlan, Julio César, Diego Milito, Robinho of Milan; Ezequiel Lavezzi, Juan from Roma; Álvaro González, Falcao García, Diego Godín, Sebastián Eguren, James Rodríguez, Ariel Ortega, Gabriel Milito, Diego Lugano, Alex de Souza, Juan Arango, Giovanni Hernández, and John Viáfara.
