Haykakan Zhamanak: Snap election discussed in Armenia
Armenia is likely to hold snap presidential election in October or November, Haykakan Zhamanak reports, citing well-informed sources.
According to that variant, President Serzh Sargsyan is to step down in September.
“The idea of snap election was reanimated after the May 6 parliamentary election. Sargsyan’s team has a control mechanism for holding elections which should be used for Sargsyan’s reelection as soon as possible, with Armenia’s political field half shocked and therefore unable to consolidate against Sargsyan,” the paper writes.
