Conflict was over on May 7 morning, Aram Sargsyan
The Chairman of Democratic Party of Armenia Aram G Sargsyan had an interview with Panorama.am.
-Mister Sargsyan, you have not still issued any statement after the elections.
-We held party’s council session yesterday and we discussed the election results. First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to those 5634 voters of ours (of course, if such was the number of our voters). We have also recorded that we could do more, although we have not done because of some financial shortcomings. We think it’s impossible to win by ideological programs in such elections, as it turned out that the poor people voted for those who grabbed them. We think it is not normal, and the authorities should also be concerned about this phenomenon since it may create security problems either. Till fall we will hold a party congress where very important decisions will be adopted.
-Why have not you appealed the election results?
-We though it was useless. Everything was so obvious, but we were not law enforcement bodies to stop the vote buying processes.
-Has any position been offered to you?
-No, of course.
-If it is, will you accept it?
-As a party leader I must always discuss things with my colleagues. Of course, I can adopt decisions on my own, but it must be in line with the party interests. Hence, we’ll see.
-It is being much talked about establishment of a coalition. How would you remark on this?
-I am thinking the wars are over. Nobody managed to establish its supreme power. I think they will reach an agreement, will get united and continue working in peace. We should encourage them to carry out at least some parts of promises given to people. I’m sure there will be no conflict. The conflict was over in the morning of May 7, when the results were unveiled.
