Hakkari Armenian Church target for treasure hunters
Armenian Church in Turkish Hakkari province has become a target for treasure hunters, who hoping to find some treasure there, have dug the church and its surrounding.
News site Ermenihaber.am said state authorities have soon taken the church built more than a century ago under protection.
Turkish Son dakika news site says local statesman Ozcelik Yildiz is preparing a report about the squalid condition of the church and to send it to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Yildiz told reporters that the Armenian Church has been abandoned so long that it turned into ruins.
