Cannes Film Festival kicks off: Armenia to launch national films
The 65th annual Cannes Film Festival gets under way Wednesday. Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” will open Cannes, where it will premiere amid the frenzy of the French festival.
This is the fourth year Armenia is attending the festival launching films of local production. Director of Armenian National cinema center Gevorg Gevorgyan has already headed a delegation to Cannes.
“This year we decided to have a new presentation, new approach to the festival; the directors and authors of the films, programs are given a chance to personally attend the cinema market and to focus on further cooperation with new companies,” Mr Gevorgyan told Panorama.am.
Armenian national cinema center will have its separate pavilion open from May 16 to 25, where different events will be held.
