G Melikyan: Every country contributes to establishment of peace and stability
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said in NATO Summit in Chicago that Armenia is committed to contribute to the establishment and reinforcement of peace, security and stability in Afghanistan by 2014 when security support forces will withdraw and after it. Panorama.am talked to RPA faction secretary Gagik Melikyan over the issue.
-Mister Melikyan, what does Armenia gain from implementation of peace mission in NATO forces?
-Involvement of Armenian armed forces in the international peacekeeping forces is very important. First, Armenia’s rating increases in international arena, and second, Armenian armed peacekeeping forces obtain high level of military preparedness in hot war atmosphere.
-Armenia’s appearance in the international peacekeeping forces is not expanded. Is Armenia’s role vital in implementation of peace and security?
-It’s not important. Every country contributes to the establishment of peace and stability. And NATO’s leadership hails Armenia’s commitment and contribution.
