MEHR: Iran shelter for Azeri poor people
A considerable part of population in southern provinces of the Republic of Azerbaijan is poor, Iranian news agency MEHR quotes British “War and Peace” organization as reporting.
It’s reported that because of mass unemployment people in southern Azerbaijani provinces are in heavy economic conditions and have to pass the Iranian border every day to buy the most necessary things.
“When we buy food from Iran and return, Azeri officials take half of the products saying the limit is 10kg. Unlike Azeri officials, the Iranians help us and don’t close doors before us,” Akef Hosseyn, a resident of Astara town, told the British think tank.
The southern parts of Azerbaijan are mainly populated with Talish people. Azerbaijan destroys their culture and language and describes their every attempt to defend their rights as “separatist” movements.
