Mubarak sentenced to life imprisonment
Ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has been sentenced to life imprisonment for ordering the killing of some 850 protesters last year, Radio Liberty reported.
Mubarak arrived in court in a stretcher to hear the verdict on June 2 after being flown by helicopter to the police academy where his trial is being held.
Egypt's former Interior Mminister Habib al-Adly was also sentenced to life in prison for his role in the killings.
However, the court dropped bribery charges against Mubarak's sons, Alaa and Gamal, a verdict which caused protests to erupt in the courtroom. There have also been reports of scuffles outside the courthouse.
Mubarak is the first Arab leader to be tried by his own people in a court.
