Haykakan Zhamanak: White sugar prices go up
Wholesale price of white sugar moved up yesterday by about 8 drams per 1kg, Haykakan Zhamanak reports.
The paper notes that Spitak Sugar Factory owned by Samvel Alexanyan was relaunched 2 years ago. The factory was said to target complete satisfaction of demand for sugar in the country, and some part of the product was intended for export.
“Theoretically sugar we consume today is produced in Armenia, therefore it cannot be affected by depreciation of Armenian Dram. However, practically Armenia continues to import sugar, and the importer is Sugar Plant’s owner Lfik Samo,” the paper writes.
