OSCE Chairperson-in-Office: Karabakh conflict will not be resolved by use of force
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore, during today’s visit to Azerbaijan called for restraint and an end to violence, OSCE website reported.
“The cycle of violence must stop - this conflict will not be resolved by the use of force,” said the OSCE Chairperson following the meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
According to the source, he condemned recent violent incidents and urged the sides to further advance their work on the general principles of a resolution, implement confidence-building measures, namely the removal of snipers from the line of contact and an agreement on a mechanism for investigating incidents on the frontlines.
“The OSCE Chairmanship supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to work with the sides on strengthening the ceasefire and finding a negotiated solution,” Chairperson Gilmore said.
