Turkmenistan warns Azerbaijan not to interfere in its domestic life
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan warns Azerbaijan not to interfere in country’s interior affairs, Iranian news agency FARS said.
Official Ashkhabad complained to Azerbaijan accusing it for escalating tensions after Ambassador of Turkmenistan was summoned to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry and received note of protest.
“Turkmenistan has a right to carry out scientific work in the waters of Caspian Sea,” statement by Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry said.
Iranian ‘arannews.ir’ said earlier, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry summoned the Turkmen ambassador to Baku to warn against what the ministry described as Turkmen attempts to explore the disputed zone.
Five Caspian states – Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are sharing dispute over the legal status of it; Iran proposes to divide it into five equal parts.
