Iranian media: Talysh are Iranian people
Talysh, inhabiting in Azerbaijan, are Iranian people who, after the collapse of Soviet Union, wishes to join Iran, Iranian news site “Ghafghaz.ir” story said.
The Iranian media underlines that on June 21 leader of Talysh national movement Gilal Mamedov was detained by Azerbaijan’s national security service and stresses that the Talysh national activist left for Russia in 1993 and returned to Azerbaijan 13 years later. Before Mamedov was arrested, some unknown people threatened to kill him.
The Iranian media said Talysh people are a part of Iranian civilization and culture.
