U.S. celebrates Independence Day
On July 2, the U.S. Embassy celebrated the 236th anniversary of the independence of the United States and the signing of the Declaration of Independence with Armenian guests. Ambassador John Heffern and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian applauded the close U.S.-Armenian partnership. The Speghani Choir opened the event by singing the U.S. and Armenian National Anthems, and the American military jazz band “Kool Jazz Fusion” played American jazz and blues music throughout the evening.
In his remarks, Ambassador Heffern noted that this year the U.S. and Armenia celebrated twenty years of diplomatic relations. “Deepening our partnership, promoting shared values – that is the mission of everything we do here in Armenia,” said Ambassador Heffern.
Independence Day honors the birthday of the United States of America and the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
