Expert: Artsakh authorities manage to do something Azerbaijan obviously fails to
“Every election testifies to the given country’s full-fledged state building and democracy. The pre-election processes show that Artsakh authorities have sufficient political will to hold elections in line with international standards,” expert Edgar Hovhannisyan told Panorama.am, when asked to comment on the electoral processes in Artsakh and their impact on the negotiation process.
According to him, Artsakh authorities manage to do something Azerbaijani authorities obviously fail to: holding of peaceful, free and competitive elections.
“A democratic country like Artsakh cannot be under the rule of Azerbaijan which is far from being democratic. The necessity has emerged for Artsakh as an independent state to integrate into the big European family,” Hovhannisyan said.
“Artsakh’s upcoming election is the next step towards strengthening of statehood and independence,” he concluded.
