Hakob Hakobyan has no plans to run for Etchmiadzin mayor
Former Republican MP Hakob Hakobyan, nicknamed Choyt, in his interview with Panorama.am denied the rumors that he is going to run for Etchmiadzin mayor.
“There is nothing of the kind, I have no plans to run for mayor,” he said.
Hakobyan noted that some people turn to him and ask him for support but he makes them understand that it is useless.
“I tell them that they have insufficient resources and they will not succeed. I think their participation in mayoral race is useless,” Hakobyan said and added that two people have turned to him for help but did not reveal their names and advised to wait for formal nominations.
Etchmiadzin will hold mayoral election in September. Current mayor Karen Grigoryan, the son of MP Manvel Grigoryan, is the most probable candidate. The name of former mayor Hrachik Abgaryan also circulates as a possible candidate.
